Alabama’s Child Support Advisory Committee Scheduled to Meet Mid-September

The Alabama Advisory Committee on Child Support Guidelines and Enforcement is scheduled to meet on Thursday, September 17th to discuss a number of different things pertaining to child support, according to a recent news release sent out by the Administrative Office of Courts. During the meeting, the Committee will “continue reviewing and discussing the current Guidelines and Schedule, which are used by the courts in [Alabama] in determining the amounts of child support to be paid.”

Aside from discussing the current guidelines and schedule, the Committee will also be reviewing written comments and suggestions from the public. For those who wish to send in a comment or suggestion, they can do so by sending it in the mail with a postmark date of September 11th or earlier. If you are someone who is displeased with Alabama’s child support system, perhaps this is an opportunity for you to share your concerns with the Committee.

 

The Alabama Administrative Office of Courts says that at least once every four years, “the child support guidelines and the schedule of basic child support obligations [should] be reviewed to ensure that their application results in approximate child support determinations.” The current review that is being conducted is scheduled to end on December 1, 2020.
