Flo Rida Accused of Missing Child Support Payments After Winning $82 Million in Celsius Lawsuit
Just as Flo Rida, whose real name is Tramar Dillard, was riding the wave of victory after winning an $82 million settlement from his lawsuit against Celsius, he came under fire for “skipping out” on paying child support for his disabled son, reports Insider (1).
The media outlet said that weeks before Flo Rida secured a victory in his Celsius lawsuit, he was accused by his son’s mother, Alexis Adams, of not paying his share of child support, though much attention wasn’t focused on that. Adams is alleging that the rapper “has avoided paying for the child’s tuition and health insurance for years.”
What’s more, he reportedly requested to have his child support payments reduced just before he was awarded millions from the Celsius case, citing his inability to afford it as his reasoning.
Flo Rida was ordered to pay $9,000 in child support for his son in 2018.
In 2018, Judge Shira Atzmon ordered Flo Rida to pay $9,000 in child support to Adams, according to Bossip (2). In addition to that, the rapper was also ordered to cover his son Zohar’s medical expenses and schooling.
While it isn’t clear whether Flo Rida has kept up with those monthly $9,000 payments, Adams is accusing him of not paying more than $200,000 to cover their son’s tuition costs, as per Insider. Adams is now saying she cannot afford the schooling her son’s father was expected to pay.
Flo Rider’s son reportedly suffers from a brain condition that can cause learning disabilities. In 2019, just one year after the rapper was ordered to cover her son’s schooling, Adams enrolled him in a private school in Manhattan designed for students with neurological disabilities, says Insider.
Flo Rida is also being accused of not paying his son’s health insurance costs.
In addition to accusing the rapper of allowing his son’s tuition fees to accrue, Adams also says Flo Rida has missed health insurance payments for their son. Given the recent verdict in the Celsius case, Adams will likely seek unpaid child support from the rapper.
