Kanye West Required to Pay Kim Kardashian Over $2 Million a Year in Child Support
“Kimye” as we know it, is officially over. The final terms of Kim Kardashian and Ye’s (Kanye West) divorce were finalized in December 2022, allowing the two to finally move on from one another. Not only will the two have joint custody of their four children –North, Chicago, Saint, and Psalm, but Ye is expected to pay Kardashian a hefty child support payment each month, reports Yahoo (1).
How much does Kanye West pay in child support?
According to Yahoo, Ye is required to pay ex-wife Kim Kardashian $200,000 a month in child support despite him having joint custody. In total, Ye will pay roughly $2.4 million a year just in child support alone.
In addition to paying child support, Ye and Kardashian reportedly agreed to “split the cost of their child’s security, schooling and college equally.” In October 2022, Kardashian reportedly heightened security for her children while at school thanks to the numerous rants their father went on via social media, PageSix reported (2).
Did Kim Kardashian and Kanye West sign a prenuptial agreement?
Given their high-net worths, it isn’t surprising that Ye and Kardashian did sign a prenup before getting married. Although Kardashian is said to be worth a bit more than Ye, the two have a significant amount of wealth and assets they each wanted to protect.
The terms of their divorce settlement also reportedly stated that the two would keep their debts separate as well. The two tied the knot in May 2014 and initiated the divorce process in March 2022.
Who determines how much child support a parent has to pay in Michigan?
It is up to the court to decide which parent will pay child support and how much each month. In some cases, neither party will be required to pay. The court will use the guidelines established by the Supreme Court to determine exactly how much a parent will pay in child support. Things like income will also be taken into account.
How do I get a child support order established?
If you’re planning on filing for divorce, the court will decide whether you’re entitled to child support before the proceedings are over. If you aren’t married but separated from your partner, a Michigan child support lawyer can help you file the necessary paperwork with the court in order to request child support.
While the court generally requires that the non-custodial parent pay the custodial parent child support, many factors will need to be accounted for before an order is issued.
